Custom Domain

Adding a Custom Domain

In this article, you will learn about how to user Custom Domain on Page. Here you will learn about how to add CNAME and TXT to use a Custom Domain. In this example, we use Cloudflare as DNS Management. Here’s how to connect MTARGET with your Domain:

  1. Go to the Tools menu then select the ‘Page domain`’ button.

After that, you will enter the Page configuration page. Here you will prepare the Custom Domain configuration.

  1. Next, move to the site where you registered the domain.
  2. Open your Domain settings (Page domain), then add CNAME to record type.
  3. At CNAME, fill in the name with the subdomain you want. Then in the Target section, fill in with mailtrgt.com.

After adding CNAME, now is the time to add your domain to MTARGET. Back to Page configuration.

  1. In the Domain column, enter your domain.
  2. Click Connect Domain.
  3. In the TXT column a record will appear that needs to be added to your domain server. Copy the TXT Record that appears into your domain settings.
  4. Add TXT in your domain settings. Fill in the name with the same name that you entered in the CNAME, then in Content, paste the TXT Record that you copied from the MTARGET app.
  5. Back to the Page configuration in the MTARGET app, click the ‘Test Domain’ button.

After that, let the system connect your domain. The longest process takes approximately 24 hours. If your domain has been validated, a green checklist logo will appear that indicates your domain is ready to be used to create a Page in the MTARGET app.

Adding Root Domain

If you want to add the root domain as your domain on a page (example: sarah.com, nadine.co.id), the steps are more or less the same as adding a domain to a sub-domain. It’s just that, there are several configuration differences in DNS Manager that you need to pay attention to. Because basically, the configuration provided in the Dashboard is for sub domains.

The difference lies in the DNS Manager, when you add a sub domain you will add a CNAME Record, while in the root domain you will add an A Record. So, if you use the root domain, then there is a difference in configuration.

  1. Go to the Tools menu then select the ‘Page domain`’ button.
  2. Click the ‘Add domain’ button to add a domain. Here your domain has not been validated, so you need to complete the domain configuration first.
  3. Then click the ‘Action’ icon to see the configuration. Here you will see what configurations you need to enter in DNS Manager.

Note: the record will automatically appear, later you only need to copy the record to your DNS Manager.

  1. Now, move to the site where you registered the domain.

  1. Here you will start adding A Record and TXT records. A Record configuration is not provided on the Dashboard. Here are the A Record configurations you need to add:

Value :

Open your Domain settings (Page domain), then add CNAME to record type.

  1. Copy the CNAME and TXT records for you to paste in DNS Manager.

  2. In TXT, copy the CNAME record that was previously generated as in the dashboard

  3. Return to the Page configuration in the MTARGET app, click the ‘Test Domain’ button.

Change the A Record setting to CNAME Record

If you have previously set A Record, here is the way you can change it to CNAME Record.

  1. Enter the site where you registered the domain.
  2. Note the domain name that was previously registered. Then Delete A Record.
  3. Add a new Record with the domain name that was previously deleted.
  4. In the Record Type change type to CNAME, and enter mailtrgt.com in the section Value / Target.

  5. Save changes.
  6. Try checking the domain to see whether the settings have been successful. If the domain cannot be accessed, please wait up to 24 hours.

Note:

  • If you want to change the Custom Domain, you only need to change it directly with the new domain. Then do it with the same steps mentioned above.
  • If you want to go back to using the default MTARGET domain, click the ‘Delete’ button.
