In this article, we provide a guide on what is needed to move from MailChimp to MTARGET so that all data previously obtained through MailChimp can be used in MTARGET. We are very happy to welcome you! We are sure you will be satisfied with our tools.

In this guide, you will learn about:

Migrating Your Email Contact List

You can move your email contact list from MailChimp to your MTARGET account. When exporting contacts, the contacts will be imported into the MTARGET Contact Book. Here’s how:

  1. In your MailChimp account, go to the Audience menu.

  2. Select View Contact.

  3. Click Export Audience.

  4. Wait for the download process. Once complete, you will receive a file in .CSV format. This file will be used to import data into your MTARGET account.

Next, log in to your MTARGET account. If this is your first time using MTARGET, we recommend following the instructions in the Dashboard for Onboarding, or you can read them first here.

  1. Go to the Contact Book menu.

  2. Then click the dropdown next to the Add Contact button.

  3. Select Import (CSV/XLS).

  4. Once entered, read the instructions first. Make sure the data format in your file matches the desired format. Then check the agreement box to import data.

  5. Next, drop your CSV/XLS file. The system will check the data.

  6. If there is confirmation that the data is valid, the data is ready to be imported into your MTARGET account. Don't forget to label it so you can easily send it to specific contacts.

Please note that if you import contacts exceeding the provided quota, only a portion of the contacts will be imported until the quota is full. You can also update contact information by re-importing without reducing your contact quota.

Migrating Email Templates from MailChimp

You can transfer email templates from your MailChimp account to your MTARGET account. It’s quite simple:

  1. Use the “My Data Backup” option to back up your data in your MailChimp account by hovering over your MailChimp account and selecting Account.

  2. Click Settings, then select Manage My Data.

  3. Click Backup My Data. The data in your MailChimp account will be sent to the registered email account.

  4. Open the registered email account and download the data.

  1. Select the Email Marketing menu.

  2. Choose Create Email.

  3. Select HTML Email. You will be prompted to upload your HTML file, so insert your HTML template file.

  4. Click Import File. You will automatically enter our Compose Email menu.

Feature List

After you finish migrating your data into your MTARGET account, the next step is to understand the features available in MTARGET. Not much different from MailChimp, but we assure you will enjoy using our features. Here are the features you need to know:

  1. Contact Book In MailChimp, it is known as Audience, while in MTARGET, it is Contact Book. It serves the same purpose of managing contact lists in your MTARGET account. It includes Labels for segmenting contacts, similar to Tags in MailChimp.

  2. Email Marketing In MailChimp, it is known as Newsletter, while in MTARGET, it is known as Email Marketing. Both have similar features for Email Blasts.

  3. Email Automation For sending emails with specific scenarios and automatically triggered, it is known as Marketing Automation in MailChimp. In MTARGET, a similar feature is called Email Automation. You can set scenarios with specific triggers and schedule when to send emails, all encapsulated in a Flow.

  4. Form Works similarly in both platforms and has the same name, Form. You can easily create Forms that can be customized according to your needs.

  5. Report With the same name in MailChimp, you can view detailed email delivery reports. This includes sent rate, open rate, click-through rate, bounce rate, unopened rate, and unsubscribe rate. Additionally, you get reports on recipient location, browser used, device used, and more.
