In this article, you will learn how to set up SPF and DKIM. For example, we use cPanel and Cloudflare as DNS providers. You can also configure DKIM and SPF at domain registrars such as GoDaddy, RumahWeb, and others.

If you want to read about general email sender domain authentication, you can read it here.

In this guide, you will learn about:

  1. Setting up SPF and DKIM in cPanel.

  2. Setting up SPF and DKIM in Cloudflare and others.

Setting up SPF and DKIM in cPanel

Here is the tutorial for setting up DKIM and SPF in cPanel:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. Select Zone Editor under the Domains tab.

  3. After entering Zone Editor, select Manage on your domain. All Zone Record settings on your domain will be displayed.

  4. Now you can start entering SPF and DKIM configurations. DKIM uses CNAME Record, and SPF uses TXT Record.

For DKIM

  • Fill in the settings to add a CNAME Record by clicking the "Add Record" button and then selecting "Add CNAME Record".

Fill in with the following settings: Record type : CNAME Record Name : mt1._domainkey.(your domain) Record/Value: dkim.mailtarget.co TTL : Default

For SPF

  • Fill in the settings to add a TXT Record by clicking the "Add Record" button and then selecting "Add TXT Record".

    Record type : TXT Name : (your domain name) Record/Value: v=spf1 include:spf.mailtarget.co ~all TTL : Default

  1. Once you have completed the setup, check point number 3 below to see if your settings are correct.

Note, if you have previously set up SPF, you do not need to add a new Record. Just add include:spf.mailtarget.co to the existing Record. For example, if you already have an SPF setting v=spf1 include:spf.(your domain).co ~all, you just need to change it to v=spf1 include:spf.(your domain).co include:spf.mailtarget.co ~all without adding a new Record.

The domain status will be updated automatically no later than 2x24 hours after you add these settings. If a check mark appears on the attached country list, it means your domain status has been updated.

Setting up SPF and DKIM on the Cloudflare dashboard

If you are using another DNS provider such as Cloudflare, Rumahweb, Qwords, Domainesia, etc., you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the dashboard where you bought the domain.

  2. Go to your domain list and select the domain you want to set up for SPF and DKIM.

  3. Find the Zone Editor / DNS Management settings. Each domain provider has a different name for this setting. For example:

  • cloudflare.com: Go to the DNS menu after selecting the domain.

  • rumahweb.com: You can find this setting under Manage Domain, then select DNS Management.

  • qwords.com: Select Domain DNS Manager.

  • domainesia.com: After selecting the domain, click Addons. Then click Manage on the DNS Zone Manager.

  1. Setting DKIM Fill in the settings to add a CNAME Record. Record type : CNAME Record Name : mt1._domainkey.(your domain) Record/Value: dkim.mailtarget.co TTL : Default

  2. Setting SPF Fill in the settings to add a TXT Record.

    Record type : TXT Name : (your domain name) Record/Value: v=spf1 include:spf.mailtarget.co ~all TTL : Default

  3. Once you have completed the setup, check point number 3 below to see if your settings are correct.

The domain status will be updated automatically no later than 2x24 hours after you add these settings. If a check mark appears on the attached country list, it means your domain status has been updated.
