In this article, you will learn how to change the domain of the Page created in MTARGET to a domain you already own. You can add one of the following types of domains: Root domain or Subdomain.

Adding a Custom Domain (Subdomain)

Here you will learn how to add your own domain using a Subdomain. Examples of subdomains are nadine.mtarget.co, or sarah.mailtarget.co. In this example, we use Cloudflare as DNS Management. Here's how to connect MTARGET with your domain:

  1. Go to the Tools menu from the sidebar, then select the 'Page Domain' menu.

  2. Click the 'Add domain' button to add a domain. Your domain is not yet validated, so you need to complete the domain configuration first.

  3. Then click the 'Action' icon to see the configuration. Here the configuration that you need to enter in your DNS Manager will appear.

Note: the record will automatically appear, you just need to copy the record to your DNS Manager.

  1. Now, go to the site where you registered the domain.

  1. Here you will start adding the generated CNAME and TXT records.

Open your Domain settings (Page domain), then add the CNAME in the record type.

  1. Copy the CNAME and TXT records to your DNS Manager.

  2. In TXT, copy the CNAME record generated earlier as in the dashboard.

  3. Return to the Page configuration in the MTARGET app, click the 'Test Domain' button.

After that, let the system connect your domain. The process takes up to 24 hours. If your domain has been validated, the domain status will change to 'Validated', indicating that your domain is ready to be used to create a Page in the MTARGET app.

Adding a Root Domain

If you want to add a root domain as your domain on the Page (e.g., sarah.com, nadine.co.id), the steps are almost the same as adding a domain in a subdomain. However, there are some different configurations in the DNS Manager that you need to pay attention to. Because the configurations provided in the Dashboard are intended for subdomains.

The difference lies in the DNS Manager. When adding a subdomain, you will add a CNAME Record, whereas in a root domain, you will add an A Record. So, if you use a root domain, there are configuration differences.

  1. Here you will start adding the A Record and TXT records. The A Record configuration is not provided in the Dashboard. Here is the A Record configuration that you need to add:

Value:

Open your Domain settings (Page domain), then add the CNAME in the record type.

  1. Copy the CNAME and TXT records to your DNS Manager.

  2. In TXT, copy the CNAME record generated earlier as in the dashboard.

  3. Return to the Page configuration in the MTARGET app, click the 'Test Domain' button.

Changing A Record to CNAME Record Settings

If you have previously set up an A Record, here is how you can change it to a CNAME Record.

  1. Go to the site where you registered the domain.

  2. Note the previously registered domain name. Then Delete the A Record.

  3. Add a New Record with the previously deleted domain name.

  4. In the Record Type section, change the type to CNAME, and enter mailtrgt.com in the Value/Target section.

  5. Save changes.

  6. Check the domain to see if the settings have been successful. If the domain cannot be accessed yet, please wait up to 24 hours.

Notes:

  • If you want to change the Custom Domain, you only need to change it directly to the new domain. Then follow the same steps as mentioned above.

  • If you want to revert to the default MTARGET domain, click the 'Delete' button.
