Introduction
Mailtarget Email Validation is a tool that enables you to validate a single email, ensuring its deliverability status. With Email Validation, you can determine whether an email is valid or invalid, along with other related deliverability statuses.
How to Use Mailtarget Email Validation
Go to the Recipients > Email Validation page within the Mailtarget dashboard.
If you want to perform a test, click on Try it out to proceed to a new page with a quota of 10 testing credits for validation.
Click Run Live Test and you will receive the validation results.
If the testing results are satisfactory, you can click Upgrade Now to fully utilize Purify. Fill in the required account information, then click Contact Our Team.
Once the account upgrade is successful, you will see the following screen. Click Create API Key email validation to generate a Purify API Key.
Enter the API Key Name, select the Subaccount, and choose API Permission as Single Recipient Validation: Read/Write. Click Create API Key and save the key.
The generated Purify Key will be listed on the API Key page and is ready for use in single validation.
If the validation is successful, the “deliverability” data will be true and the reason will be DELIVERABLE.
If the validation fails, the “deliverability” data will be false and the reason will be BOUNCE.
If you attempt to validate more than one email, the following error will occur:
Here’s the bounce reasons you may encounter from Mailtarget:
SYNTAX:
Meaning: The email address has a formatting or syntax error. Examples include invalid characters or mistakes in the email structure, such as "user@@domain.com" (with two @ symbols) or missing ".com" at the end of the domain.
Impact: The email cannot be sent because the address does not comply with the standard format of a valid email address.
SPAM_TRAP:
Meaning: The email address is detected as a spam trap, which is an address created to catch spammers. Sending emails to a spam trap can damage the sender's reputation.
Impact: The email is not delivered, and this can negatively affect the sender's reputation in the future.
DISPOSABLE:
Meaning: The email address is a temporary or disposable address, usually created for short-term use and then discarded.
Impact: The email may be delivered, but these addresses are typically not active long-term, increasing the risk of bounce.
ROLE:
Meaning: The email address is associated with a group or role (e.g., "info@", "support@", "sales@") rather than an individual.
Impact: The email might be delivered, but it may not be directly received or might be considered less personal.
BOUNCE:
Meaning: The email address cannot receive emails because it is inactive or there is another issue with the recipient’s server.
Impact: The email is not delivered, and the sender receives a bounce notification (delivery failure).
NO_INBOX:
Meaning: The email address does not have an active inbox. The address might exist, but it is not used to receive emails.
Impact: The email is not delivered because there is no inbox to receive it on the recipient's side.
Understanding these bounce reasons is crucial for maintaining the effectiveness and reputation.
Congratulations, you have successfully validated an email with Mailtarget Email Validation!
