In this article, you will learn how to create Birthday Emails using MTARGET's Email Automation feature.
Before starting, make sure that the email contacts you have stored contain a field with the birthday date, for example, a field named 'Birthday'. If you don't have it yet, you need to create a field containing the birthday date before creating a Birthday Email.
Click 'Contact Management' then select 'Contact Field'.
Create the field name you want, for example, 'Birthday'.
Click 'Save'.
If you have done this, you can collect or manually enter the birthday date for a contact.
After that, you can start creating the Birthday Email scenario.
Go to the Email Automation menu
Click 'Create Automation'
Choose the template you want to use or a plain template.
When entering the Automation Editor, click 'Select Trigger'.
There will be four options, choose Period. Inside there will be 3 parts:
Fill in the Recipient with the contact label to be sent.
Then in the On field section, select the field that contains the birthday date data, for example, 'Birthday'.
In the Repeat section, select Yearly.
After that, click 'Add Scenario'.
Select 'Send Email'.
In the sending time section, select the time you want.
After that, the Action column will appear, click 'Set Email'.
Here you will start creating the Birthday Email you want.
When finished, click 'Preview and Publish'.
Up to this step, you have finished creating a Birthday Email. However, if you want a certain response, for example, when the user clicks a link in your email and so on, you can add a scenario by selecting 'Response'. When you are finished, click the 'Finish Scenario' button.
After making sure everything is done, click the 'Start' button. The automation scenario will then run according to your wishes.
